During 2019 Festival of Contexts in Sokołowsko, I am going to play with the Universe. It will be the audiovisual, interactive, conceptual project. I am transforming the cosmic rays into sounds. The action engages every person who is interested in the performance. To achieve my goal, I am using the CREDO Detector app installed in the audience smart phones which delegates controlling impulses to the sound generating system. Therefore, interlinking to this interaction requires installing the experimental CREDO app. I transform the stream of fortuitous events by deriving them from my nearest surroundings. Next, I dispatch the steering impulses which are unpredictable to the generator of sounds exposing the instrument to chaoting reactions. I try to turn impossible to real; I try to resist the unexpected/ stable, disorderly picture of sounds. The result is playing with the Universe – music becomes, in this case, immeasurable subset of occurrences – unpredictable and unique because of the moment – depending on the position of the Earth, the quality of the cosmic radiation during the moment, the number of people taking part in the experiment, the reaction of the generator of sounds to the fortuitous events coming and finally, my resistance to the picture of sounds. A pretty breakneck task but not written off because human beings have stall been looking for new solving trying to tidy surrounding reality. Perhaps unpredictable circumstances paradoxically approach unexpected discoveries. Definitions, in this sense, gather new shapes and borders open to new meanings, phenomena and inaccessible areas by now.
CREDO detector is a part of a global science investment – Cosmic-Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory (CREDO), installed and coordinated by a team of scientists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Polish Academy of Science in Krakow.
“Researches as part of CREDO program can help to answer the questions: if astrophysical phenomena occurring millions or even billions of light-years from the Earth are responsible for some diseases? If dark matter really exists? What is the real nature of our continuum: continuous or digital? If exotic effects of quantum gravity can be examined experimentally? Data from the smart phones scattered on all continents have the chance to revolutionize not only theoretical physics but also much closer fields of our every day life. ”

The performance will be accompanied by the visual part – interactive projection of the demodulation of cosmic radiation particles as written pictures by matrixes built in audience’s smart phones.
My enterprise is supported by the international scientific cooperation CREDO, inter alia through the adaptation of the detector of CREDO app to my artistic needs. As the requital my performance will support the science: collected information will go to the acquisition system of CREDO data and it will become a subject of scientific analyses, and maybe some of the participants will stay with the CREDO project for longer.
I am asking a question about the artist’s attitude, the idea of art today, I Am trying to go out of the set area of meanings. If everything has already been, everything will be soon, that what has been is barely and more a bridge to what is going to happen.
Programming Support: Aleksander Ćwikła (CREDO), Maciej Szcześniak.
